As Director of Education,
it is my primary job to assure our educational environment provides both safety and engaging avenues of success for each staff member and student.
I teach all the social
studies subjects. World Geography, American History, Government, Oklahoma History, World History, and Sociology. I also
teach Bible. I have a real love of anything doing with Social Studies. I believe it is in the study of our past and the truths within our Government that our students will learn to become productive citizens.
Being an art teacher is the fulfillment of a life- long dream for me. After staying home to raise our daughters,
I taught art at Wright Christian for 12 years. When Bill and
I became house parents,
I asked if I could teach art
at the Academy.
"You can't save the world!" I will, however, do all I can in my corner of it. What better way to do so, and propagate this ideal into the future, than through the education of young people? My goal surpasses teaching the principles of mathematics by providing a nurturing environment wherein students learn to lead, ask questions and formulate their own ideas.
I teach English Language Arts. This includes reading, writing, speech and grammar. I love language and art and enjoy sharing that passion with others. I strive to be an effective teacher that emphasizes the power of words!
I teach science. Teaching has given me the opportunity to share my passion and appreciation for Science with these teenagers.
After retiring from a 27-year career in OK public education, I'm delighted to find myself back in school again! Every day at HHA is an opportunity to help our teachers, students and patron in any way that I can. It's a thrill to witness our wonderful teachers in action and see our students truly engaged in their education.
I love making healthy and delicious meals for the residents. I am a blessed mom to four wonderful children and this job fits our lifestyle perfectly!
